I believe that we do learn from history… If we take the time to read it and absorb it! If we ignore it, never pick up a book, never go to a lecture or bother to look back and think about what has happened… If we have no humility and no conscience… Then we cannot learn from it!

I failed history, couldn't remember who did what when, couldn't even get events in the right order. If only I had realised as that well as who what and when, it mattered why it was the right thing to do. But why study history? When I was a teenager nobody even suggested that as a question.
