Apparently not

And yet, MAGA CULTISTS are completely clueless about history. They'd rather burn a history book than read. SMDH 🤨
Five bucks on ignorance
"Hegal" must be the etymon of "heckle."
Yep, human behavior never changes. We still are easily distracted and I dont think anyone will be talking about the Epstein files a week from now. No one is exempt from this because look at the last decade! They know we will never stay focused and will take advantage of that.
Rinse……….and repeat Ad infinitum
Lets not say we, more like "stupid people who do not study history, really stupid people whove read jistory books but too stupid to undertand them, and absolutely stupid people who think it couldnt possi ly happen again while taking the very steps to repeat history." Its a phenomenon.
😢
An excellent history professor I had in college stressed history is NOT the past, it's yesterday, today & tomorrow. We look at yesterday so we know what we did to cause today then today we work on fixing the mess we made & try to make things better for everyone alive today & tomorrow
Redundant and boring! Can't we do nice as a new thing!
LMAO thats a bold claim figuring they can’t even learn the fact that haven’t learned from history, let alone if it’s even the right part of history or not. We are doomed
Shame sculpts fantasies in the form of pick-and-choose what suits your escapism
This is a good sentiment, but I can't find this actual image of Hegel anywhere, and it's actually a modified/simplified version of what he said, from a 1922 publication “The American Elevator and Grain Trade” share.google/zQSHu1EqhMMo...
Quite right
Excellent. Saving that one.
"Hegel remarks somewhere[*] that all great world-historic facts and personages appear, so to speak, twice. He forgot to add: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce." www.marxists.org/archive/marx...
Perfect.
It's never to late to learn from history.
The noted philosopher George Santayana (b. Jorge Agustín Nicolás Ruiz de Santayana y Borrás, December 16, 1863 – September 26, 1952), penned one of the great truths about human history: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." His observation echoes Hegel more cynical version
We learn from history, that people put people in charge who want to repeat history.
Yup
IMHO, "we do not learn" pretty much explains MAGA
MAGOO has no idea what that means!!
Because we are all made for programming by our tribes.
THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH and NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH !!!! …. a damn shame, but absolutely true 😞
Particularly true for Republicans.
It's kind of a selection bias sort of situation because it's not exactly easy to tell when something *didn't* happen because we learned from history.
Sad, but accurate 😥
Spirit science 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Cassandra Syndrome eternally.
bsky.app/profile/andr...
Hegel would be ashamed of your gAI garbage.
Or the MAGA version: we'll refuse to learn from the present the exact same stuff we refused to learn from history
It applies to some & some do not know much about history.
When you have a small elite group of people that make higher education harder to obtain to maintain their grip on power, History is bound to repeat itself.
OVER AND OVER. But since the fascists are purposely repeating history then WE have to too.
Freedom ain't freedom if u allow the people who don't honor freedom to be in charge of freedom. But ya got to draw a line somewhere and Nazism has to be banned from humanity.
Happy Bastille Day!!
Omg!! Happy Bastille Day!!
History doesn’t repeat itself but if often rhymes.
I find it amusing this got so many ❤️'s. Most American's are woefully ignorant of America's history (how many know that America invented the concentration camp and used it against the Philippines?) and also World history. Anything happening anywhere today can be understood in World history's past.
historically speaking
Faur point. Btw spirit science is delulu.
"Let us repeat what history teaches: history teaches" --Gertrude Stein 😁☹️😉
but, just warning you that Spirit Science isn't exactly a great place to be looking for guidance The dude's a nut. I'm 100% with this, but just a fair warning for the future. Shit like "the moon is an egg" or "Atlantians were from mars and were taught by the Egyptian god Thoth"
Also "Jews are spacemen from the future who came back in time to fill in a hole in the Earth's Chakra back when the Earth was a little girl planet which is also when the Martians came here for the same purpose, causing issues because Mars had pervy old man energy".
“Left” and “Right” are media illusions. The real line is Top vs. Bottom. And they’re counting on you never looking up. Bolster the middle class = destroy oligarchs. We cannot thrive with them; we thrive without them. Embrace the historic change.
This is some BS. Both sides do it so I don't have to discern the difference between agents of authoritarianism who are behind a 50 year plan to bring it to America and any form of democratic representation nor do I have to identify who specifically is currently inflicting pain and chaos on America.
“Don’t make me repeat myself”…History
Short version Democrats destroy everything you give them , then they blame you
The empty eyes show just how much he felt this.
Yes, a friend and I were just saying this yesterday!
There you go...that covers it. Truth, at last👽
Some people foolish enough to believe that they will not to make the same mistakes.
Never failed to fail it was the easiest thing to do” Stephen Stills
Papal bull 1493- Doctrine of Discovery gives Christian European explorers the power to subjugate Indigenous people
"Friedrich Hegel" isn't his name.
George Wilhelm Freidrich. And he said "“But what experience and history teach is this – that peoples and governments never have learned anything from history, or acted on principles deduced from it.” Bit more long winded.
Schroedinger’s History
Q1: is this quote really Hegel? Q2: is this image really of Hegel? #ReadActualHegel
Welcome to the Metaverse...
As soon as I see the spirit science logo I immediately think 95% chance thats fake.
Genau das 🤮🤮🤮
Profoundly true!!
Yet it continues to repeat itself. We must be doing something wrong Me~ 😁
I didn't learn that
🙄
I wonder how this portrait was made? 🤔
"Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so." -- Douglas Adams
At least we learn this from history.
Yep
I mean the Bible wasn't the biggest giveaway?
And then "the best" of them DON'T, because they're playing high with their high ball peeps and fellow PEDO dumb@$$3$-- the shaving is happening though 'ey(??)(.)....
Jesus, I've never seen this photo before...
It's AI
Felon47 & Epstein are soooo gross!🤮
They were business partners... at least that's what a Palm Beach resident once told me, who seemed disturbingly cavalier about the treatment of children by Trump and Epstein...he said all the locals knew it, but wouldn't detail what "it" was exactly, where were local police?
dah
True...
Some people don’t learn from history.
Learning is no community exercise.
Historically accurate.
The ability to learn from history is the next big evolutionary step. Who knew?
History can only teach those who are open to learning. I cannot teach those who think they know it all.
It, not I. 🤦♂️
To know the true history, it is preferable not to trust the history recorded in books, but rather to search for history through historical facts.🙂
We should most ardently apply this to him. Let’s not learn from Hegel.
Oh man i forgot about spirit science thanks for giving me my daily polite chuckle
Hey, wasn't that guy in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey?
🤯
Not quite what he said, but it's still got meaning. Going to split the quote into two posts here for length. "But what experience and history teach is this, - that peoples and governments never have learned anything from history, or acted on principles deduced from it." 1/2
The important added bit: "Each period is involved in such peculiar circumstances, exhibits a condition of things so strictly idiosyncratic, that its conduct must be regulated by considerations connected with itself, and itself alone." 2/2
Also this: One persons bad behaviour is another persons perfect plan. I.e. shitler follows hitlers plan and the result is the same Even tho we have clear historical records, we didn’t learn how to STOP it from happening
That's Men's problem EXACTLY. Women just suffer through. We must teach ourselves how to take charge. Most women have never thought of being in charge. Ask them. Look at the Queen. She did a fantastic job and never called anyone a lunatic or loser or slob. She didn't even give a microphone a BJ.
And she created 4 human beings
Humanity will never evolve if it lives in the past. There are those that seek to destroy and control, then there are those that want peace and happiness. Guess which ones the billionaires are. It’s high time past change. The dems are not organized or have the resources.
Alright 💯
Sad but often True!
Yep .....we apparently did learn from history and are intentionally reenacting it.
History is a useful record of how things should not have been done. Problem is that today, Worldwide, Politicians are hell bent on adding to that truth.
Because some people have taken a stance against learning.
This explains so much...
Good quote
Agreed. Keep trying same thing, expecting different results.
Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it, unfortunately so are the rest of us.
Hegel says somewhere that all great historical events take place twice, and Marx adds the first time it's tragedy, the second time as farce. Marx got it wrong. The first Trump administration was a farce; the second one is a tragedy.
And it's not history's fault!
We've learned from history except they didn't have the internet back then and there are no written strategies for what to do about alt right echo chambers.
Spirit Science huh? I haven’t heard from that channel in along while. Think it’s time to smoke a fat one tonight and watch that Hidden Human History movie again, hilarious stuff.
The uneducated, especially, do not learn from history. That is why tyrants want to do away with education.
👍
That’s quite a face 🙏🏻
Maybe he was already deceased when they painted his portrait. There's a painting in the Baughman Center @ University of Florida of some VIP who was already deceased at the time. They used his corpse to paint his portrait. I wish I still had a photo of it. It's SUPER creepy.
Slight correction: the portrait is in the University Auditorium, not the Baughman Center. My bad. Source: Me, I used to work at the performing arts center at UF about 25 years ago.
It’s an AI image 🤦♀️
And has nothing to do with Hegel. In times of an overabundance of information ppl seem to be drawn to the most absurd. Mind blowing.
Yes, I commented on a bad AI post while casually scrolling on my phone while taking a dump. I deserve to have my balls eaten by hyenas. 🙄
*whoooooosh* Did you hear that ? Try again.
dude looks like Voldemort
We learn from history for Win . SEB
And, you cannot erase history.
One of my favourite philosophers
Ain’t that true
That's the product of "SELECTIVE MEMORY. "
In other words, people don't learn from their mistakes, people are the mistakes.
Hegel wrote some shit that's hard to understand, but this shit is right on.
Its so true. Even the image is giving "American vibe in 2025" realness...so authentic!
😂
We've also learned that Republicans are the dumbest people on earth.
The illusion of perception.
The illusion of fantasy.
I hope I don't have to pick either of those guys out of a lineup of other guys with similar features😳except the ruffles, I think I remember ruffles 🤷🏽♀️
Dammit... Nope. Not on either😔
("Not", not "Tot".)
GWF Hegel ist aber tot… 😹😹
😂😂😂
Some of us actually do learn from history. The good, the bad, and the ugly, and we use it. Plus never underestimate the enemy.
Well Hegel was a very logical guy
USA: lets just double check tho
Yet I always thought people were wrong when they said it repeats itself… and it does just differently than one would think. -Dirk Family
I'm having a student days flashback. This guy wrote sentences that are two pages long 😑
Very true and it is sad we are living proof that right now.
Whoa. Totally Zen, dude.
He’s not wrong…😑
Great
We need to commit to changing the outcome
It hangs over our country like a fine cloth draped over a coffin. The Conservatives attack on our nation has struck deep, into our priorities, our education system, into our values, even into our history. They decided to try to strip away the things that made our country great. Can they be stopped?
Some of us do...some ignore it.
Or... What goes around... Comes around ...
Hegel 🤮
You were NIT paying attention, FRED!
It's the "slaughter-bench of history" guy. His work is a mixed bag. The problem with most philosophy is the reliance on presupposed hypothetical external forces prescriptively influencing reality.
Do I have any fan on this fan I am new here
Unfortunately true!
Ding ding ding. We have a winner 🏆 🥇!
Sad but so true!
The sad thing is that appears evil will learn from history how to get around the laws, destroy norms, distort history, confuse and dumb down the people so that many no longer believe or care
Very true. The modern US could be described as "What happened when the fascists studied WW2 Germany and came up with a better plan for next time?"
And then he face-palmed.
Spirit science is still around huh
Sadly true.
So true. Are we at the doomed to repeat itself From another great quote?
"The World Feels Very Very Dangerous Right Now? The Break-Down of Earthly Humanism... It's So Unprecedented?"
The Dark Ages was NOT repeat, NOT caused by Christianity. The barbaric governments at the time hated learning. Sound familiar? It was the Abbies and monasteries that preserved history and cultures.
Did the xian leadership denounce the barbaric governments, or did they ordain those monarchs and use their relationship to the monarchs for their own benefit ?
it’s complicated
What they teach you in school has been cut and edited. I learned more about history by borrowing books from the library. What I'm seeing in the US makes me really uneasy because I've read about the rise of Hitler and fascism
It's a great bit of wisdom. Also, I look a bit like Hegel this Monday morning.
💯 ⬆️ Clearly
That's what Minerva's Owl said!
Unfortunately humanity has been historically fucking stupid forever and there’s literally nothing you can do to reverse it other than throwing babies off cliffs again lmao
No, just the expectations were always wrong. Our mindset cannot overcome the curvature of the Earth😎
Is English your second language
Yes, I am German.
Ahh, that explains a lot lmao
😎
💔
History keeps on repeating itself. The problem is each time it ends up costing us more.
I believe that we do learn from history… If we take the time to read it and absorb it! If we ignore it, never pick up a book, never go to a lecture or bother to look back and think about what has happened… If we have no humility and no conscience… Then we cannot learn from it!
I failed history, couldn't remember who did what when, couldn't even get events in the right order. If only I had realised as that well as who what and when, it mattered why it was the right thing to do. But why study history? When I was a teenager nobody even suggested that as a question.
Especially when the victors are writing it.
😪
Hardly. That's like someone thinking that they're mature and wise b/c they've been on the planet for 79 yrs. They might not have ever grasped the concept of accountability or personal responsibility despite having the opportunity to witness how that has affected them and others year in & year out.
💡
What
Why history repeats itself—people don’t learn the first time.
When history repeats itself, it's a desired result.
Only by those that are devious or unintelligent.
Well, then I hate to break it to you, maybe after WW2 we shouldn't have hired Nazis with Operation Paperclip, because now there's an AI calling itself Mecha Hitler being used by the government. We're still hiring Nazis, we've been bombing for years, it's a desired result.
Yes they are devious, and unintelligent. But what does that mean for the government for the past ~80 years?
The negative dialectic. :)
A quote I use all the time
Van Hegel kunnen we in ieder geval niks leren.
What I have learned from history is that greed blinds us to empathy. This is the cause of most suffering in the world today.
Actual quotation: “But what experience and history teach is that nations and governments have never learned anything from history and have never acted in accordance with the lessons that could have been drawn from it.”
Thank you!
Truer words were never spoken☹️
Sick AI hegel cropped from spirit science dot com, totally not q anon shit.
AI Hegel is the stuff of nightmares.
The contradictory logic in this short circuited my hardware.
Clearly
This guy Living his best life @ every company I’ve worked for and needs to Tell me all about it.
Some people can't even grasp basic math, basic spelling or (bare-minimum) skills needed for their own survival! Asking them to learn history might be a lot!
Pete and Repeat were......you know the rest
But we DO learn. See?
Truth!
Western civilisation is kind of a creature of habit truth be told.
Please help me, even if it is just one dollar, it would make a difference in our lives. Our situation is very difficult. By God, we do not have flour to feed my family. My sisters and children went to sleep crying from hunger. Please help me, even if it is just one dollar.
We are such an intelligent species 🙄🙄🙄
Some do , some don’t, as they say in South Yorkshire.
The reason we continue these mistakes is not that we don't learn from history. It's that our History leaves out the things we got wrong.
because the teacher is dead!
That is the truth. I am so glad my Dad was a big history buff and encouraged us to read and discuss historical issues.
So far, 100% true!
We just don't teach history here in the States anymore.
More like THEY IGNORE history
Head of FEMA got a new hairdo I see.
He looks traumatized 💀
