Michigander here. Independent, been voting Democrat for a long time. We donated to the Harris campaign and door knocked (for the first ever time). You can have your purity tests all you want. But first and foremost, my current elected politicians have to run the government to serve 1/
their constituents. The ice storm was widespread and catastrophic. She needed to do what it takes to get the money for us. If you want the action you described, get enough like minded people elected so they actually have the power to do something. D's in the minority have little power realistically.
Mitch McConnell was in the minority many cycles and was extremely effective in stopping D agendas. There's always a way if you fight. Whitmer, so far, has gotten nothing. The ice storms are not the biggest issue facing MI. 1/5
Tariffs would destroy the state's economy. No MI D stopped that. The Canadians did by exercising real power with T-Bills. Medicaid is going to be cut. That's going to damage the state's three academic medical centers and close rural hospitals. 2/5
The state's three powerhouse research universities have 6 to 9 months of life left if impoundment continues and the IDC rate cut stays. The direct and indirect impact of these institutions collapsing will devastate SE MI and therefore the state. 3/5
The entire state is in the CBP special zone. As they become more empowered, Trump has a path to disappear MI citizens to El Salvador without due process. 4/5
Allowing the CR to pass and confirming Trump nominees signals to Rs that Ds will not fight. Peters and Slotkin both confirmed a P25 author and an unqualified CJC as part of a politicalization of the military. That's why you see an escalation in R villainy. Fight or Fold 5/5
There's no rational discussion w/ a person who thinks John James, Mike Rogers, Ted Nugent, & Kid Rock are better for the state/country than our current Senators & Gov. I had this discussion with folks before last Nov. And YOU & they put us in this mess. Purity crap. It's a futile discussion. Bye.

Always great having folks like you rooting for me!!! But seriously, not to be taken as sarcasm b/c people contorted themselves NOT to vote for Harris in order to "teach the Dems" a lesson. Many and perhaps even you, would find that "logic" persuasive and cast a vote for e.g. Nugent.
I went to the '24 Harris event in AA, marched 3 times this year. I gave $3k to Ds in the '24 cycle, $2k in MI directly to House candidates and Slotkin. They continue to lose and must change. I support @runforsomething.net for that reason. I also already contributed to Cooke in WI-03. Good luck.
