When Republican legislators say "protect the voices of Utahns" they mean themselves, not the people of Utah. They believe, by virtue of being elected, they ARE the voice of the people—and the public should shut the hell up. As an elected representative, I find this idea repugnant.

By the way, this isn't rhetorical. They very literally believe the people do not have a voice except as it exists embodied in the legislature. They do not give a sh*t what Utahns want.
