(2/) C buttons instead of a C-Stick is also design that people aren't going to prefer, and I know I'm not going to prefer it either, especially when the SN30 Pro actually has FOUR shoulder buttons to help alleviate the problems.

(5/5) Of course, my arguments aren't perfect, but I imagine you could have your own points about stick/button aiming compared to usage of Touch Screen, Gyro Controls, or even Keyboard and Mouse. I'd be happy if you'd be up for sharing your 2 cents about it.

An N64 controller will not beat gyro or keyboard and mouse, but if we compare it to modern sticks, it does beat it. N64 uses optical sensors which allows for no deadzones and no risk of drifting. The spring it uses on the stick allows for great resistance perfect for small precise adjustments.

My point is more-so that people claiming the N64 has bad controls are just inexperienced with the games/are using the wrong setup (emulators with other controllers that have improper ranges and sensitivity). I've used the N64 controller on modern titles and it played fine, tho it lacks some inputs.

(1/) Well, what I'm looking for is what is solid about Goldeneye 64's controls, particularly at a baseline level. Kid Icarus Uprising and Splatoon would both benefit from the improvement of control capability without Touch Screen/Gyro/KB+M stuff, seeing those are practically add-ons in comparison.

(2/) Kid Icarus Uprising even has a technique called the Spin Shot, which allows for making use of the directional attack system for mix-and-match, but the way it works favors the TS, quite likely over Gyro at that. (3/) I find the N64 controller design itself to be dated, but the overall control has worked from what I recall of the N64's heyday. The SN30 Pro simply provides conveniences on emulation such as setting CL/CR to ZL/ZR and I believe C-Up to X and C-Down to A. Oh, and L to Select.

(4/4) Of course, even getting past the N64 controller still being a pioneer anyway, Goldeneye 64 was doing something right. Clearer idea of what exactly would be very nice to showcase.

I think this video showcases it. They're smooth and responsive, and it's only benefited by the N64 stick accuracy. It doesn't have things that would make you say it's dated today such as forced aim inversion or camera spring as it's fully configurable.
