2D / classical / hand drawn never went away, thankfully. Many studios (including Disney's tv) keep it going, with fantastic series like Gravity Falls and Over the Garden Wall. Would be nice to see it on the big screen again. Princess Mononoke's recent IMAX re-release was a treat!

"Bonkers and amazing" So AI generated. Got it. Disney is too morally bankrupt to ever return to what made them successful. It wasn't 2d animation. It was fantastic stories. Not visuals, not fancy cgi. Stories. And disney doesn't make good stories anymore

I don't believe it even for a second. When Disney shut down their old 2D animation studios, they lost so much talent and animation infrastructure that Disney couldn't make a 2D movie now even if they wanted to. They'd have to rebuild and relearn everything from scratch again.
