I’m shocked!
I’m shocked!
The whole time I was watching it I was thinking it should've been on the big screen.
Well that's a given at this point, they'd be fools not to. Here's hoping it gets a proper theatrical release.
My question is do you think it would have the same success if it went to movie theaters first and not streaming?
I think it would have been a cultural phenomenon and lasted in theaters week by week like say Puss and Boots was a few years ago. Try to remember people expected that to be in and out of theaters in a month but word of mouth made it a success and last three months. It was a critical and fan success.
Its already a cultural phenomenon and it didnt need to hit theaters soo idk wtf youre talking about. This shit spread like wild fire from word of mouth with almost no promotion. Has topped global charts on music and is now getting a sequel. Most watched film on Netflix. Thing is a hit.
It is, you’re right. The guy asked how I think it would have performed in theaters, and so I compared it to what happened with Puss and Boots. The point is Sony sold this off for $20 million cause they thought it was going to bomb. When this could have been a massive financial win for them.
They are working on the sequel now so maybe Sony gets a bigger pie this time. Im sure Sony didnt expect this huge success from it. Still them selling it for 20million feels low but hey thats Sony doing Sony things lol

I think there’s a new business model brewing here. Theatrical should always come first, but direct-to-streaming will always be around. If anything on streaming unexpectedly catches on, put it in theaters and then create a sequel exclusively for theaters. Everybody wins.
?
They kinda left the whole "demons work for grima against their will" thing unresolved and of course Rumi's parents. So a sequel could work.
Gwi-Ma*
It's not 'in the works' just yet.
I don't care how they do it but I NEED my baby Jinu back!
Needs a prequel. I want to know the story of Rumi’s parents.
What is the record for the soonest a sequel has been greenlit after the debut release of a brand-new property? This surely has to be up there.
Some movies had sequels greenlit before the first released, so...
It was a fun movie, but it doesn't need a sequel, it already told its story.
Creatively I could see your POV, but it would be silly to not continue the IP since it's a massive success and people can't get enough of it
thats why it should be a prequel of Rumis parents.
The movie is called 'Demon HunterS' but the only who gets any sort of tangible development is Rumi. We know next to nothing of Mira and Zoey, and even Celine's screen time in the movie is inversely proportional to what her role one would expect to be.
Don't watch it if you don't want to. Boycot it if you want, your loss. But this whole 'iT dOeSn'T nEeD a SeQuEl!' Bullshit needs to stop. Who are you, who is any one of us, to decide whether a movie needs a sequel or not? We didn't "need" the first one but we got it anyway and we loved it.
Aggressive much
What exactly is so closed-ended about it? Based on the premise I wouldn't expect it to create an impression of not being sequel-friendly.
I feel the same way. If they wanted to do something, do a prequel on how a demon and demon hunter have a baby and how the mom dies.
There's still the unresolved issue with her teacher/guardian.
Oooh
The tricky part is Sony convincing Netflix to allow this sequel get a proper theatrical release
Hurry up
Life is good
Yay!!
