Good thread. A term I once read someone (I no longer recall who) use and found appealing is "collaborative disagreement." The goal should be to leverage viewpoint diversity to produce a common good, not just to score points against each other or to be respectful for its own sake.

Habermas referred to something similar as 'communicative action.' Once the postmodern critique of objectivity won out in most philosophical circles, academics were faced with the question of how to value subjective positions against each other.

Habermas' solution is to argue that we can achieve intersubjectivity through cooperative projects where we communicate and adjust our views in order to take collective action (such as run a government).
