The UK has started restricting covid shots to those over 75. I wonder if there is some sort of scientific basis for this?

I don’t want to be like the right and immediately jump to a conclusion just because I don’t trust the government in power. I’d like to see something that explains why this decision was made. The fact that the UK has made a similar decision makes me wonder if there is science behind this.
