Americans suffer from a lack of history. Whereas in the rest of the world, something has to be four or six thousand years old to be "collectable". In America a gas station sign from the 50's is considered an antique. Folk finding anything made before they were married is something to be hoarded!
True, but people do like to collect things from the 19-hundreds in other countries as well. Hoarding isn't about history or not. It's connected to disorders like OCD, ADHD and anxiety.

This has nothing to do with a "lack of history.". Frankly other places in the world could use a bit less history which is used as an excuse for human misrery. This is a mental health condition in some. Me personally? Whatever has meaning to you is what is important.
