It is a testament to the resourcefulness of Gaza that after Camp David they were flooded with Saudi and Egyptian schemes to divert their revolutionary activities into jihad-adventurism abroad, but they turned it to gold & forged the only viable path to Palestinian statehood.
What the Israelis found was that in the middle of their own concentration camp Gazans had been building a functioning, independent society with a state based on resilient civil & military institutions, right underneath their noses. This infuriated them far more than the attacks, rockets or hostages.
