"Shouldn't have to" do a lot of things, but the world is what it is and magical thinking won't change it. People want to hurt folks like me and my family for reasons, so I'm keeping mine to defend myself, family and community. Most folks with guns think the same. Magical thinking is what's nuts.

Who wants murder? Nobody healthy wants violence. Assuming the vast majority of people just trying to defend themselves actually want to kill anyone is nuts. Also assuming we don't do things to for our community, or support systemic change is nuts. I can't fight for shit and guns exist so I carry.

No, I don't want murder and that's a wild assumption. I just want to defend myself, family and community the best way I can from immediate threats. Actual systemic and cultural change takes time. Threats exist here and now, and vulnerable people have the same right of self-defense as the powerful.

Who says I don't? Options are just options. You're saying everyone who defends themselves against attackers, where the person committing the crime happened to die, a murderer. Elderly folks, victims of domestic violence and hate crimes? That's nuts to me.

“Who says I don’t?” You, with your ownership of a murder tool. And yes, if you kill your attacker, that is murder. In the moment it usually is forgiven, but a murder still occurs. You’re just planning for a murder in the future. You keep using “protect myself and my family” as excuse.
