Many former Republicans are racist. Some change. As a S. Asian woman, I’ve heard it b/c I’m a level up on privilege, I call it out. I try to teach. 1 friend of mine changed completely & atoned through independent learning. What he’d heard as a white man was much worse. The racism is deep rooted.

Too many Am’s refuse to take accountability in how they too perpetuated the cycle of oppression. My formerly R friend took accountability. He learned through the perspective of black history. He had an awakening in which he was mortified by his past “casual” racism. He changed, most don’t.

I have a friend who is a naturalized citizen who immigrated from Argentina as a kid. She is also Jewish. But to look at her, she frequently passes as "white" and the stories she has told me of the things she has heard and called out have made the hair on my neck standup.

I’m going to repost this & respond further there but yes, it’s so much more prevalent than people are willing to admit. It’s also not just red necks or rich white people or even just white people. It exists on levels, none of which are acceptable, & requires vast societal change.

They sure cheered on unprecedented, anti-Obama obstruction, and decades worth of voter suppression laws specifically targeting the black vote. Unlike most MAGATs, these two are actually intelligent and knew exactly what they were doing. You think Kellyanne(?) isn't racist?

They ended up turning on the republican party. I would like to ask them about this though. It is a fair point you make.

They didn’t “turn on the Republican Party”, JFC. The Republican Party kept marching further right, and they stopped. Still RW, just not the ones saying “we should make women and (slurs) property again” out loud.
