Well first of all, it's fine to be sad. You will be, and you can cry if you want. Secondly, don't forget about phones these days. You can text every day. I told mine that if I texted I wanted a reply even if it was just a thumbs up, so I knew they were OK. 1/
Thirdly, plan a visit now. Put aside a weekend about a month after they arrive when you can visit. Or arrange for them to come home for a weekend. I'd ask mine to come back once a term and try and visit once a term. Having a date when you'll next see them helps a lot.
And remember you can come and be sad here and get support! A lot of us understand. Also, it gets easier. Like when you have a new baby you can't imagine it at first but you will get used to it fairly quickly. Plus it makes the holidays more exciting, having them back 🙂
My 5th child is going back for his second year son and I still do the visit once a term thing. Already planned my days! I still miss him when he's gone but it's easier now.
She's not even going very far, so it will be easy for visits. But yeah, will take some getting used to
That's something. My current one is over 300 miles away 🙄 fortunately we have a people we can stay with to visit.

One starting uni? Our youngest started last year. It was emotional. But, they go on to have a great time and it's a real lift to see them happy.
