Keep talking about age. Yeah, that'll bring The Olds to support your position. 🙄 They bring a new strategy, new methods and new skills. Their age is irrelevant. But, by all means, focus on age.

Age does matter. Look what you have in government. The Republicans‘ average age must be about 79. They should have retired 10 years ago.
I submit 2 older, energetic, CURRENT office holders: Bernie Sanders and Chuck Grassley. And 2 younger, energetic, CURRENT office holders: AOC and Maxwell Frost. What they have in common is Skill. Strategy and coalition-building Experience. Those characteristics have Nothing to do with age.
Absolutely age matters. Try applying to any normal job as an 80 yr old and see how many interviews you land.
Yes and how many people still work at 80 unless they can arrange their own work hours and nap on the job?
My mother, thank you very much.
So you acknowledge ageism exists as a permissible form of discrimination.
Yes, when old oafs suffer visible onset of dementia, fall asleep at work it’s time for them to retire.
... and yet, Trump got reelected. 😠 I'm not arguing for poor performance. I'm saying age (young or old) doesn't guaranty and isn't predictive of good performance. No group can carry an election w/o allies - even older ones. How do you plan to partner with people you openly deride?
Yeah. He got elected and he's doing a real shit job because his brain is mush. I don't want people with mush brains ruling over us. Wanna keep an old man or two around the same way the oval office has a fireplace, fine. But old heads have failed us everytime they weasel their way into office.
Would you hire a 5 year old to be a surgeon?
She would hire an 80 year old forgetful surgeons who isn’t steadying their feet.
Not that you're entitled to this information, but an 81 yr-old surgeon who was the head of the University department in the specialty I needed, performed, rare, life-saving surgery on me. This discourse is wearing thin.
Is it ageist to hire an old man who can't do the job over a kid who can't do the job?
This question doesn’t need answering. There are 100s of jobs old people can’t do b/c of cognitive & physical failing but in politics they hang around well past their retirement age just v/c they can. That‘s the issue, I think. You need age limits.
That's not ageist as much as it's dumb. And, again, it gets to my point. I don't care about age. I care about ideas, skill and strategy. But when people make age the primary dis-qualifier (or qualifier), I wonder what strategy they think will convince the disqualified to join their cause.
If a 5 year old had somehow managed to go through med school and pass their boards, do an internship at a credible institution ... Sure. Because they would have had to be a genius.
