whoa! There's a gyre of smoke over the northern plains via firesmoke.ca/forecasts/cu...

a map of northern north america (mostly) including much of the USA and Canada but not all and mapped with major cities and wildfires. There is an overlay of smoke drift and concentration of PM 2.5 with the smoke. light blankets of smoke cover most of the US and southern BC coast, extending inland through nearly all of cascadia south of Prince Rupert. Smoke extends inland through southern BC, across the Rockies to Calgary and south into Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. More smoke stretches across the central US south over southern Colorado and north Texas and stretching towards Mississippi. In the north, small amounts of fire smoke stretch across southern Yukon into central NWT and Great Bear Lake. A gyre is circulating through Nunavut, NWT, northeast BC, northern Alberta and northern Saskatchewan before flowing out through northern Manitoba and Hudson Bay. The strongest concentrations of PM 2.5 are in NWT, Nunavut, and northwestern, Alberta near active fires, but the gyre extends south to Edmonton. There are more fires in northeast Alberta and Saskatchewan near Primrose Lake, extending smoke through Saskatchewan and into Manitoba. There are additional drifts of light smoke through northern Ontario and Quebec and while some of it is from the western fires in the Territories and AB/SK, some is also due to local fires.

Ugh it’s gonna be a crunchy September (between fire smoke & harvest particulates).

Why yes, I do have my windows open anyway. Because it's cooler outside than inside right now, and I have an air filter.

the air is crunchy here, but it's less bad than farther north.

I'm in dread of that spreading. So much is so dry. 😞 I'm glad it's not too bad where you are. I'm sending rain vibes!

Yeah, I can see that. I can see the smoke drifts. It's not great at all.
