Why do expect to see ever improving living standards though? We've got increased longevity and environmental issues to sort out and we often prioritise health, safety, fairness and a whole host of other things over economic productivity. Fine choices to make, but can't have everything.

they're interlinked tho. without a strong economy public health is worse, less money 2 go around (fairness) etc

HLE in Warwickshire, considered a relatively affluent area, dropped from 74.7 in 2015 to 71.7 in 2023. For England it dropped from 72.5 to 71.4 in the same period. So HLE is dropping everywhere, but far faster even in affluent areas outside of London.
