full disclosure: i love the Morrison run and hate that Magneto as well “what if Magneto were a bitter, washed junkie loser?” is less interesting than him being a messy bitch with some good points, imo Rare Morrison miss, or I’m just not in the right place to “get it” like I should?
I don’t think he was there to be a bitter washed up loser for its own sake; I think he was there to be the past. Morrison badly wanted to drag that franchise into being a more contemporary metaphor. And the *idea* of Magneto was always more compelling than the man.
I’m in the same place. I even love the reveal itself and a bit afterwards
