It's from a short story by Jerome Bixby. There were sentences in that story that haunted me for years. I never managed to see the TV episode (or, for that matter, the movie).
It was also honestly a terrifying episode!

I loved that movie but that segment freaked me out as a kid. It was Joe Dante’s take on the classic TZ episode with Billy Mumy as a boy who could wish anyone who made him mad “into the cornfield” (make them disappear).
(His uncle was played by Kevin McCarthy, best known as the star of the original “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.” He also had a cameo in the Donald Sutherland remake of that. Horror movie Easter eggs!)
