Fall for it? We practically begged for it. fainéant & apathetic voters. purity testers, fallow proponents of laissez-faire democracy. A society that routinely enjoys voter turnouts of sub 60%. This is the logical conclusion to a democracy undefended.

Yes. However, it also took years of systemically evolving our voting systems, news businesses, educational systems and courts to set the table for this drastic failure. Social media propaganda has a starring role.

The body politic is not without agency. We are bearing witness to the fruits of a long ago poisoned tree. Corruption & politics has been an accepted collocation since the dawn of civilization. It is only when tyranny arises that we dare to take notice.
