I don’t know very much about it but when I see certain things that people in my family experienced I intensely support the diagnosis of autism for whomever it fits. It would have avoided so many misunderstandings and difficulties if these people had that knowledge.

Totally get that, and - yea. I think so many people would be better helped, though part of that would be new educational frameworks; so much of the neurodivergent social issues are born from /never being taught/, not really. You gotta teach social skills as intensely as you teach math or history.

Even just knowing can help. Up until recently, people have been mystified thinking much human divergence is chosen or changeable—if more people would know some are simply different from others and all can accept who they are, and be accepted, they and people they love will have less anguish.
