They’re National Guard. People often join the military for healthcare and education as this is one of the only ways to get those things.

I grew up cry myself to sleep hungry poor. I joined at 16 with a 1 year DEP to finish school. I bought my first house at 17 with VA it was a total pile of shit. Rented rooms to 6 guys on base and they helped me fix it up. I only lived there 2 months before being sent to Panama...

used that house equity to buy 2 more rental properties. I kept buying shitty little houses at auction and foreclosure fixing them up and renting them out. Got 8 rentals now and as I enter retirement.
