Sure. I’m fine with child molesters being blacklisted from teaching, career criminals from being cops, arsonists from being firefighters, and charlatans from being public intellectuals.

Now, to be clear, I’m not saying “these are bad people and they should be denied income.” A child molester can fight fires. A charlatan can be a cop. Any of those four can enjoy a lucrative career as a tech executive or an investment banker, and in fact many do.

I’m just saying there’s nothing wrong (and lots right) with gatekeeping out folks who operate in a manner orthogonal to the purpose of the project in which they’re trying to engage.
