The UK only want to join the EU if: - The EU has " reformed " according to a British style model - they can keep the pound - they can stay out of Schengen - plenty of opt outs - no closer union This should all be agreed behind closed doors & then made public & voted on quickly.

This is more or less the deal Cameron has agreed with the EU and then was rejected by the British voters in 2016. But let’s have the U.K. government making the case even for this, but they can’t even accept the EU invitation to join Erasmus…

It's clear the UK don't want any EU discussions out in the open & take the public with them. They want to be 100% sure about anything before they inform the public. That's probably the reason they want the EU to make all the moves: they're afraid to do it themselves afraid of Farage & the press

The EU has made many moves from day 1. On that day 1 which was the approval of Boris Johnson deal by the UK (24.12.2019), Michel Barnier said to BBC in London: “I have two regrets: UK didn’t want to join Erasmus and the mobility is below historical standards between our people”

2/2 This was an ask that Ursula vd Leyen expressed to Starmer in London in May this year. And it was not embraced yet by the U.K. side. This is not even a customs union ask, and yet the U.K. government can’t make it happen.
