There was—and I cannot emphasize this enough—never any drama or doubt or even newsworthiness in all the coverage about the process to get here. While MAGA is a cult, that is not what happened in Congress. Few in Congress are true believers. But they believe they personally will benefit from their vote and they DGAF about their constituents or the country as a whole. They all need to be voted out.

What we just saw major media do over the last week was the equivalent of a breathless minute-by-minute analysis of what happened between the moment Jim Jones ordered his flock to drink the Kool-Aid and the moment it did so. Just pointless earned media for a madman dead-set on destroying everything.
My question is why - they are either counting on the fact that people will not know how terrible it is, or have decided that authoritarianism is here and they want to be on the right side of the king.
