So today I learned about Girl Scout Troop 6000, a Girl Scout troop entirely of girls living in NYC homeless shelters. I also learned that you can buy all your Girl Scout cookies directly from them on-line. Which I just did. And, if anyone else wishes to, can be done here:

Girl scout troops only get $1/box sold.... the rest of it goes to the manufacturers, distributors and the Girl Scout org. If they really are homeless, you're better off donating to the shelter directly.

Girl Scout troops get a pitiful amount of money from cookies. I’m a sucker for Thin Mints and Samoas, but please also consider just throwing a couple of $$ the way of any scouts you come across. (There are girl troops in “Boy Scouts” too, although they typically sell popcorn instead of cookies.)

This world man. I just watched my kids class musical performance. A hundred well fed well healed kids living in a lavish zip code. And there’s kids in shelters trying to sell Girl Scout cookies. My fucking heart can’t take this world sometimes. I donated.
