Hey! Press covering Trump! The statute that lets him impose tariffs at will? It EXPLICITLY excludes movies. He has no authority to do this. Not just bc of an absence of authorization, but bc the law says “you CANNOT do this.” Do NOT say “Trump has imposed movie tariffs,” bc he did not. He CANNOT.

Tariffing a movie is not a thing. Trump thinks it's like a reel of filmstock you have to declare at the border. It's a collection of digital works that are combined in the US. There is no border on the internet.

Also, there is that small problem that movies are owned by the studio, not the theaters that show them. So there is no transfer of possession like there is when you want to buy say "pencils" or "dolls"

Until the law stops Trump from breaking the law, he can break the law. US law has repeatedly failed to hold Trump to account, and the Democratic Party enabled today's lawlessness when they failed to convict him for sedition and/or treason. They had four years to do it.

There's a reason there are so many lawyer jokes.

No, other countries decided to buy a film industry by offering insane subsidies for work to be done there, and they are cash out subsidies, not just deductions. So by doing that they've pushed LA out of the industry. It took the strikes 2 years ago to complete the cycle.

Yes and I dont think it would even pass the House as republicans don't like tariffs. Some just don't speak up about it not to alienate his supporters.

I don’t think 2.0 lawyers & aides circle back when he loses legal cases or they just lie to his face (S Miller) bc he yells at them. So his insanity & delusions of grandeur are just growing exponentially. Seems not a great way to run a place when POTUS has no F’ing clue about a single thing.

Sure that's what he agreed-upon law states, but haven't you noticed? Trump don't have no regard for the law.

Someone should tell Disney and Wall Street. Its getting to where every time Trump has a brain fart, we all get under our desk, before we fact check, just how vast the kings power really is. All that he purveys is not on the table. His bark is becoming worse then his bite, as his dementia grows!

His dementia is quickly becoming a problem. He could kind of keep up with himself in his first term. But now the increased cognitive decline, and corresponding decrease in self-control are very bad. I doubt he has any idea what he's said or done much of the time.

Yes, I'm back. FTD is nothing like Alzheimers or any garden variety of dementia. It should be called FT disease, as memory stays intact & then abruptly goes, which signals life functions to power down. Trump's father had dementia start becoming noticeable @ age 77, from my research, sound familiar?

I'm so sorry about your wife. It's heartbreaking when the ability to communicate effectively with our loved ones goes away. I've read a lot about FTD and seen it for myself because it affected my great aunt and she was fine and the next year she was not the same, then it was all downhill, quickly.

I feel your past pain. I/we live our lives, wide open, conversing around the clock. We see the losses & discuss every little thing. Trump is either killing her, or keeping her mind going strong. I limit our independant news, depending on many factors throughout the day. Very nice to talk to U, thx

I really hate giving Trump a way out, because he's always been a cheat, serial predator and dictator @ heart and in practice, But.....I just happen to be a full time caregiver to my ex-wife, who suffers from and is going to expire from BvFTD, (behavioral Varant Frontal Temporal Dementia.
