One of the more interesting reviews I saw of it was that there's too much game (in terms of levels IIRC) compared to the stuff happening in the game. I think I agree. Good mechanics but it's just a little overlong

for the first game? My big thing js that, jn a game where skill points evolve your weapons, you will always have at least 2 weapons using the same ammo type. (Usually pistol rounds, explosives or energy cells)
Also everything surrounding the Rusty Vito Rusty/er Vito js the only weapon that uses Drums. But for whatever reason it has an option to make it the Des Goules. When you already have at least 1 weapon using cells. I guess for when the drums run dry & you Reset? Idfk
i almost always rocked Machete Auto Pistol Rustier Vito Nade launcher Nomicon 2 Energy Booster Upgraded Crossbow (and honestly some of the options to replace those kinda blew. Dual pistols feel so bad :((((((
Oh i firgot the shotgun honestly any of the shotguns work (Power or Abyssal), but why are all of them double barrels? Just but the ammo in half and take 1 per shot at that rate
I'm afraid of choices 🥺 Give me your perfectly balanced guns pretty please, and I'll figure out how to make them work for me (If there was a way to experiment with different guns without relying on quick saves and loads, I might have preferred that, but the entire system is just a hangup I have)
I'll be real I've grown to see why ppl don't like rpg mechanics in non rpg games. (and i usually prefer dmc style upgrades over skill trees) I think it's Passable in FMF but not particularly balanced. Axing the skill tree in favor of more uee of Madness/Balanced weapons would be cool
The two very similar machine gun type weapons did also confuse me It's been a while
OK so i probably complained enough to sound like I hate the game. Some positives to balannce out Artstyle is cool, albeit presentation feels a bit dtilted Madness skills were fun (I was Journalist) Darkness was used well Enemies felt a tad stock but otherwise nice (they had goofy quirks)
I think cosmic horror is pretty cool. Evem w/o drawing from Lovecraft specifiically, you can do gnarly stuff with it Boss fights were good, but I have to give special shoutout to Glitch. That fight was fantastic
I don't wanna be too mean to FMF, both bc it's unfair and bc FMF2 has some upgrades -Weapons are generally improved. They feel Punchy, & there isn't ammo overlap iirc -Presentation feels way better. Lots of little things -Clocks. Fun collectible but the noises make you go mad
I do mourn the loss of Madness Skills, and I admittedly liked having Save points (if i can save anywhere, I Will abuse it) Having 3 Perks (some Passive, some Tome Activation) feels comparitively lame So FMF2 so far feels 2 steps forward 1 step back
well now you've got me curious I think the first one burned me out a little bit (enough to not want to go right to replay it) but if the new game rebalances some stuff for the better... it might just be worth the buy
Yeah, I know there's a sequel but I've been spoiled for choice with boomer shooters as of late I've barely even scratched the surface of Doom mods and level packs
i've got a big backlog myself too. For many genres
