Possibly, no guarantee. Newsom is actually fairly unpopular. Most Dems are not transphobes, & there are a significant number that are FAR more popular & electable. A particularly good dark horse candidate would be Andy Bashear as he is fairly progressive but also has MASSIVE appeal with moderates.
