There's another field in the datasets for current gender. There used not to be. How else are they supposed to collect the info? On a service like this gender at birth might possibly be safety critical in triaging what condition someone might have.

It really depends. For quite a lot of medical issues what matters is current hormonal gender - a trans woman on HRT may have breast cancer, for example.

I wonder whether those are outweighed by times when the birth gender might be more significant. It might not be especially obvious things.
