First bird of my day: in the July moult only the gentle cooing of wood pigeons and the odd squeak from the 5th blackbird brood make up the garden sounds. And above, I spy a swirl of jackdaws. My eyes will remain staring until I see swifts. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours

My first bird of the day, a Whitethroat, or perhaps a mimic, along the lane on the dog walk. I say mimic because usually, when you hear a Whitethroat call, it's on top of a bush, proclaiming its presence. Second time I've heard but not seen.

First bird of my day: a woodpigeon, walking through the long grass at the edge of the lawn, the rain showering it with cool fresh welcome drops of water. #FirstBirdOfMyDay

Stephan's Emerald Dove. Remarkable as it isn't supposed to occur here! (Rennell Island)

FBsOMD pair-bonded jackdaws on chimney pots. An avian rooftop triptych others: wood pigeon on an ariel with feathers puffed up, then suddenly flap, flap, glide, gracefully flying straight towards me, & a mellifluous goldfinch, centrepiece and soundtrack. 😄

Yes, the three distinctive different species over the three rooftops was a great start to the bird day. 😄 The sudden direct approach of the wood pigeon was dramatic! It's a rooftop-rooftop flight path I've seen frequently from ground level but not seen from a window the pigeon hurtled towards. 🩶🩷🤍

Woodpigeon perched on a TV aerial. Fine here, but rain forecast for later.

#FirstBirdOfMyDay almost identical to yours 😊 A wood pigeon at the feeder and a pair of jackdaws on the chimney, soon joined by a young blackbird 🐦‍⬛

#FirstBirdOfMyDay: Blue jay inspecting every single food offering I brought outside this morning, probably looking for peanuts. In other news, *someone* ate all the peanuts I put out for the squirrels before they even got a chance. 🤔

Competition for your premium nut provision for the wildlife! I do like it when I read "In other news ... " in your 1st bird posts as an interesting description of a phenomenon will follow. 😃

A quiet day untl I heard a currawong calling me outside. Two birds in the highest branches, 1 on the east side of the garden being echoed by the other on the western side. Would love to know what the conversation was about😏 #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
