First bird of my day: almost the same as yesterday - a wood pigeon on the chimney opposite underneath a dull, grey, beautifully wet sky. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours

First bird of my day was also the same as yesterday - a woodpigeon skirting the edges of the pond. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Fiji Woodswallows. They're really common here!
Lone, silent jackdaw standing on top of a streetlight was FBOMD. Next, scanning down the street as I emerged from the porch, was a goldfinch singing a solo from a prominent aerial livening an otherwise dull beginning to Sunday's daylight.
#FirstBirdOfMyDay: a House Martin popped its head out of the nest, had a quick check left & right, & then glided out across the harbour to join the others.
Two Blackbirds perched on a roof, Collared Dove and a gull flying past. Warm and misty here.
Swifts against a uniformly light grey sky, beautiful as always but presumably very wet today 🌧️
#FirstBirdOfMyDay: Mine was almost the same as yesterday too – brown thrasher, two this morning, foraging in the leaves.
Brown thrashers upping their 1st bird game or, possibly, you've been keeping your head and eyes down this weekend. Anyway, these two are very welcome indeed on their second consecutive appearance. 👋
Today, it was the squawking call of a blue jay that brought me to the window to check for cats (one of the jays' usual reasons for alarm calls in my backyard). I did see the jay, a juvenile, but the thrashers were closer and caught my eye first. No cats. 😄
I'm categorising the observation of the Brown thrashers as them upping their game, getting spotted before the Blue jay - significant effort to be FBsOMD. 😃 Phew, no invading felines disturbing your backyard visiting birds! 💙🖤🩶🤍🔊😄
A short visit from a male blackbird during a lull in the rain. 🐦⬛ #FirstBirdOfMyDay
A startled carrion crow taking off as I opened the kitchen curtains. Not sure what it was up to! The sun is glinting it's presence against a heavily laden sky. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Up to no good, I’ll bet a shilling! As my Dad used to say. 😆
Early morning tea brewing, caught two juvie irredscent magpies noisily arguing with a couple of crows in amongst the ripening rowan berries. In the damp grey late morning a woodpigeon is watching me type #FirstBirdofMyDay
Still got Pallid Swifts feeding young in my roof but a lot have left now. It is getting quieter - won’t be long before the sky is silent again 😢
#FirstBirdOfMyDay a great tit teacher-teacher song. Haven't heard that for a while.
Once the rain stopped, briefly, a herring gull drifting away to the east. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Herring gulls for me. Always hear them, but particularly vocal this morning. #firstbirdofmyday
I can hear loads of different finches this morning. Gold, Green, Chaff and even Bull. How can a bright pink-chested bird remain hidden so well?! But #FirstBirdOfMyDay was a female house sparrow picking through the wisteria on the roof.
First bird of my day: a Crow struggling to cross the valley with a strong headwind on an overcast day. #Firstbirdofmyday
Another glorious morning here and Swifts were the #FirstBirdOfMyDay again but this time over the rooftops of the city of Bydgoszcz in Poland 😺 (not that you can see them here - you’ll have to take my word for it!)
It's a not inconsiderable pleasure imagining the swifts darting and gliding above this PL cityscape! 😄
It’s a nice city, is Bydgoszcz - like most Polish cities, very much on the up! Not as many Swifts as in Szczecin, but they’re still present in numbers.
👍 Enjoy your day in Bydgoszcz and seeing those wonderful swifts!
A shadow of wings thru the cobwebby kitchen windows (must wash them) then I remembered the scraps of sausage thrown out on the lawn last night. Maggie was back - haven’t seen her for a while. She called out to the young ones and family breakfast on the frosty lawn. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
