First bird of my day: I was just minding my own business walking a regular route and I heard a Redstart right next to me. After a lot of peering I spied a bit of red before it flew off. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours

First bird of my day: a woodpigeon warming itself up on the tin shed roof, its wings spread out as it bathed in the morning sunshine. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Pacific White Tern.
A silent corvid that flew up and directly away from a deciduous tree in full leaf in bright sunshine. I guess it was a rook because it wasn't accompanied, didn't make jackdaw calls and didn't appear big enough to be a carrion crow!
I was delighted to see a Chaffinch as #FirstBirdOfMyDay There were a pair feasting on sunflower hearts in the garden
A gull flying over. A fine morning here.
A skein of Canada geese flying over very low. They are now in a a nearby field. It seems very early to be seeing this kind of thing. Maybe preparing for the oncoming storm? #FirstBirdOfMyDay
The sounds of an unhappy mockingbird made me put down the bird food to search the trees. There! A crow being chased away – a blur of flashing wing patches and much angry verbiage. Can't say for sure which I saw first, so they will have to share #FirstBirdOfMyDay honors.
Tree sparrows literally dropping in to visit the feeders from some very high hawthorn growth and the parallel telegraph wires alongside the garden. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Great spot Hannah. Still about 20 plus Pallid Swifts wizzing about over the garden although the nests are now empty.
A particularly shouty wren chip chipping away at me as I hung out my washing. Then sitting at the top of the spindle tree making a noise like a machine gun. So loud for such a tiny bird. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
First bird of my day: a flock of Long Tailed Tits flying from tree to tree on a beautiful blue sky morning. #Firstbirdofmyday
A female blackbird who is missing her tail feathers. She has been with us for a couple of years now. Unless we have hosted a genetic mutation that makes it easier for them to escape from cats... #FirstBirdOfMyDay
It was still a Swift, but this time in Berlin 😺 #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Well! They follow you wherever you go! 😁
LOL it would appear so! This evening when I got back home I went out onto the balcony at about 8 & thought, ‘Oh, they’ve all gone,’ but at about 9 there were a good 30 or so above the park, including a pair of ‘ours’ that are still here even though their young fledged 2 weeks ago! Amazing.
😊 For a little while longer, then.
Normally they go about this time but I’ve discovered that there are young uns in 3 or 4 boxes due to birds losing partners & starting late so I think they’ll be around for a few more weeks yet. The weather looks as though it’s going to be sunny as well so we should have good insect numbers 👍
Have to look that one up. I just got home from a day out and first birds to greet me were rainbow lorikeets above, chattering in the elms and a solitary eastern spinebill hovering in the salvia by the front door. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
Both spectacular! How lovely 😺
