First bird of my day: a wood pigeon flying into a copper beech tree and landing like an Olympic gymnast. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours

First bird of my day: woodpigeons in the garden - on the lawn, in the birdbath and waddling along the path. The juvenile is becoming more confident but stays close to its parent. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Three courting Pacific White Terns, then a lovely Black Noddy on the lagoon.
First bird of my day, the juvenile herring gull with a call that is now half youngster's pleading screech and half grown up herring gull. Its voice is breaking! #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Fascinated to watch a bonny blackbird for 5 minutes at 5.30am by the country park 🐦⬛ I'd love to know how exactly he instantly turned 180° perched/stood on 1" bore fence & launched into flight when unhappy at approaching car headlights!
I was greeted by a soft, pale grey, day and #FirstBirdOfMyDay: an equally soft, pale grey, Collared Dove
Great Tits on the feeders. A cover of light cloud here.
#FirstBirdOfMyDay: Mourning dove waiting, waiting, waiting for me to bring out assume breakfast seed. (Slow getting outside this morning. 🥱)
*some* breakfast seed Maybe still not awake ...
Yet on the best case, maybe the mourning dove has some other potential opportunities to get breakfast and didn't have to wait in just the one place; though conscious that when your feeding station has availability it is of quality seed so happened to be there when you went out with the seed refill.
I'm sure the doves – and all the local birds – have multiple places where they regularly find food and do not depend on someone as unreliable as I am. But they sure do act otherwise sometimes. That dove was sitting at the feeders staring at the house for a long time. 😆🙄
House Sparrows in the hedge and flitting around the garden. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Earlier this morning a wood pigeon seen here too, balancing on an arch as if it were a beam overlooking the Vale of York. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
A gang of Blue tits nipping around the back garden. First time in some time. 🥰 #FirstBirdOfMyDay
First bird of my day: a female Redstart perched in an elder tree and eating the freshly ripened berries on an overcast, cool morning. #Firstbirdofmyday
A whole flock of starlings just descended on our front lawn. We think the dew may have brought worms to the surface. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Swifts! Beautiful acrobats flying like crazy against a pale blue sky! Can never see enough of them!
Snap! Although there was no landing - just a whizz past over the trees and rooftops. One of those ‘Woodpigeon with a purpose’ flights 😺#FirstBirdOfMyDay
I can just imagine it. My first birds were 2 eastern spinebills chasing each other furiously around the tree ferns this morning. One landed and claimed the branch and the other flew away. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
