First bird of my day: a juvenile woodpigeon sitting awkwardly in the bird bath. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Opened my hotel room blind to see some Welcome Swallows on the wire.
Jackdaw FBOMD flew into a gap between houses, soon lost to my view and a bit of a disappointment. Soundtrack was goldfinches calling, one & then another appearing in the air, joining with about ten more, bouncing off taking joy with them. Left some for me! 😄
Sounds wonderful!
It was wonderful. I never cease to be fascinated by hearing then seeing goldfinches in the vicinity moving around. I struggle to understand how any people would fail to notice and admire their presence. I don't often see a pair of goldfinches join with a travelling charm. (Should be up to date now!)
‘Our’ kite calling from its perch in next door’s horse chestnut on the A4 in the middle of Reading
Great bird photo but strange the only green is from the conkers with the Horse Chestnut leaves all brown.
In recent years the tree seemed to resist the Leaf Miner. This dry summer has accelerated the drying out in the last couple of weeks. It’s a shame, but the tree damage seems cosmetic.
Very quiet this morning. Those birds that are around are very skittish #FirstBirdOfMyDay: a Blue Tit snatching a seed & heading back into cover to eat it.
Great Tits in the garden, Jackdaws flying past. Dry with light cloud here.
#FirstBirdOfMyDay: Blue jay letting all win hearing distance know his dissatisfaction with breakfast being late.
Aw, I hope you didn't take this Blue Jay's eloquence personally!
He got his peanuts. He needed to stop griping.
😁 (I Liked these replies of your's from Wednesday. But, this morning scrolling on a major UK retailer's store WiFi, nil Likes against them. BlueSky's functionality is at times somewhat perplexing! Plus my recent local 4G signal problems, it's making my contributions here less than straightforward!)
Red shouldered hawk
#FirstBirdOfMyDay was the Robin, checking out all the corners of the garden before settling on a fence post.
A dunnock exploring around the tops of the floriferous plant pots on the patio looking for tasty finds. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
The wonderful wee Goldcrests. Busy day for the Tits; Blue (sorry, got cut off snapshot), Coal, Great and Long-Tailed. Still got Flycatchers and I could see ‘Martins high up but calls were not picked up by Merlin.
💚 One of those birds that look as though they could be potentially ungainly but end up being so elegant.
There was an avian party in my garden this morning! Swallows and house martins wheeling above. Goldfinches twittering madly in the hedges. Mixed tits - mainly blue and long-tailed - gathering insects between the blackberries. Rooks and Woodpigeons in the trees and on the wires. #FirstBirdOfMyDay
Don’t you feel so lucky on the days your own garden is full of bird life.
Yes I really do. They’ve been so quiet recently it was lovely to wake up to all the happy chirping and busyness.
First bird of my day: a pair of Dunnocks following each other in and out of the hedgerow on a calm, cloudy morning. #Firstbirdofmyday
The sound of dozens of currawongs outside. A small flock are perched in a tree next door but the rest are unseen, calls echoing around the valley on this gloriously cold but sunny morning. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
