First bird of my day in my new home - a jackdaw flying across the gardens as I opened the back door. So far, I have seen a sparrow gang in the hedge, swallows and house martins skimming the field across the road, crows and a woodpigeon (of course!). #FirstBirdOfMyDay

3 goldfinches, FBsOMD, singing from telecomm. cables over the street, changing places in their choir stalls from time to time, then flying off. A little while later, their singing was from the crown of a birch tree. 🎼🎶

Aw, hope this gang dried out by and by.
They did dry out, eventually! We received 6 inches/152 mm of rain on Thursday, but the sun returned on Friday. The rain was much-needed, but it would be nice if we didn't get it all in one day.
😲 No wonder the house sparrows were, as you reported, thoroughly wet!! 😟 I am relieved to learn that they have been able to show resilience in the face of such an enormous total rainfall.

I'll overlook the pair of ravens that flew over and the Jay calling to share a couple of noisy nuthatch in the trees near the moth trap that obligingly decide to check out the two chimney stacks of the big house for bugs. Not a behaviour i have seen before. #FirstBirdofMyDay
3 Pallid Swifts speeding around the house. Still a few left - I don’t remember them leaving so late last year. Not complaining though - will be quiet soon 😢
