In the pouring rain I found a wasp on the road with a raindrop between its wings. I offered it my finger. It climbed onto me & I put it in a dry, sheltered place in a wall. First it shook, then it dried itself, then it flew away, hopefully home. Have you done something like this?

I once saved a bumblebee from being trampled to death on the road. She had ended up on a sandy path, exhausted by the heat. I picked her up and placed her in the plants at the side of the road. Unfortunately, I didn't have any sugar water with me.

Recently during a heatwave, from the sidewalk I placed a small bird in some shade with water, and later from a paddleboard picked out a swimming bumblebee in the middle of a lake so it could dry off and recover on land

Nope. But I got stung in the neck by a wasp in the produce section of PriceChopper. Does that count?

Nope, I don’t have the wings for the whole flying away thing.

I put out a water saucer for wasps & refill it daily. Do you know that they can recognize specific human faces? Never been stung. They wait for me to refill. It’s very hot and dry here.

Also in torrential rain, I rescued a caterpillar who was in danger of being washed away on the SW Coast Path. It was so beautifully adorned with water droplets although it was not in a position to appreciate them itself. #littlethingsmatter

Worms caught out on cement after a rain, hate ro see those dried out bodies that couldn't get back in time. Spiders at work, before someone smushes them. Bees in water buckets. Once a bee on hot rocks looked in distress, I put it on a flower and it actually revived.

I found an upturned woodlouse struggling to roll over on to its legs so I rolled it on to a leaf and placed it on some bark chip. I swear it waved at me with a smile 😊

I rescued a yellow jacket from the birdbath and it thanked me by stinging me - at that moment I realized it would have been smarter to use a stick instead of my finger.

I save anything that I think might be in danger, including slugs and beetles crossing the path, tired-looking bees and wasps, insects in my beer, spiders that the cats might play with … am not even keen on dispatching mosquitoes! Have always been like this 😹
