The sparrows are back and in fine voice down in the dogwood this morning! It’s going to be a lovely day 😺 #FirstBirdOfMyDay
I think of house sparrows chirruping in the dogwood in parallel with swifts during their summer in Szczecin as being the two basic staples of your 1st bird observations! I like hearing about them. 🤎🖤🩶😄
LOL where I live there aren’t many FBOMD possibilities, given my urban, 4th floor location 😹 Summer: Swifts, pigeons, wood pigeons, hooded crow; Winter: Sparrows, gulls, pigeons, wood pigeons, tits, hooded crow. Anything else is a rarity as I see them flying past rather than on the ground 😺
Other than the weeks in each year when your swift boxes are full-on producing swiftlets 🙌, I hadn't noticed, in particular, any unlikeliness for house sparrows to be your 1st bird. I wouldn't mind if sparrows here were FBOMD 365 days! Though harvest time they're not here. Not far, in grain fields! 😃
I think that’s where ours are in summer as well. I do hear them in the mornings but don’t see them so much as in winter, when they’re regular visitors to the balcony. I don’t feed so much in the summer as I actually want to be able to use my own balcony!
Yeah, I understand about using your balcony without cleaning it up several times each 24 hours. Mmh, they'll be somewhere where their special purpose beak shape is being put to excellent use to feed themselves, but also issuing forth their inimitable sounds of fervent social interactions! 😆
Heard 🌈 lorikeets somewhere outside this morning but a pied currawong was first sighted, perched on a tree next door then flying past me and landing on an elm branch before it flew down to the garden where it stopped for a long drink in one of the water bowls. #FirstBirdOfMyDay #WhatsYours
