Hard agree - that said...it's true that parlimentary systems offer better resistance to extremist politics, the worldwide rightward shift belies a deeper problem. That being neoliberalism. We're seeing the center collapse everywhere.

Unless there is a true progressive movement pulling AWAY from the right, rather than centrists defending the status quo and creating policy that serves capital rather than people, demagogues and right-wing populists will continue to take hold. Desperate voters are vulnerable voters.

We need to end the obsession with GDP and endless growth and focus on sustainability, climate, gross wealthy disparity, healthcare, housing, labor protections, living wages, food insecurity.
