On the Air Canada strike - There are countless stories of people rebooting their flights with other airlines, incl. West Jet. Everyone is reporting increased ticket prices. I do not think Canadian companies should be profiteering from the hardships of others. @mark-carney.bsky.social

Agreed but we need to attract enough investment to have no monopolies. The tax payer should not be having to dig them out of a mess of their doing.
We need the government to also stop large companies from buying up all the smaller ones when they become a threat. That’s how we also ended up with two companies controlling the grocery industry.
Not disagreeing but I don't think that is government's role. We need Canadians to invest in our own country. And as consumers we need to step up and support Canadian owned businesses.

Yes, but we can call it out. And we have legislation to prevent it.
To interject myself here, I think up until this strike, people accepted the pracrice and did not comment on it because it was the norm. We have had many such instances in our history, which once called out seem so obvious. It remains the norm for the airline industry. Canada is the outlier.
