No one ever complained How would she know?
No one ever complained How would she know?
I heard about it years ago. They've complained about it before now.
What have the union/s done about this? That is their role to advocate for workers rights. Mechanisms, policies and legislation are in place to protect workers. If this has been known for years, why no action? (PS. I didnβt know)
I'm not sure what the union has done about it, but I had heard about it at least 4 or 5 years ago.
If the employer or union is not acting in βgood faithβ on any labour matter a complaint can be filed with the Labour Relations Board. Their role is to review the issues. All labour matters are governed by Standards, Codes & Procedures. βComplaining for yearsβ is an issue- especially for the union
Seriously, it was a major issue resulting in a strike! She would have known about it 9 months ago during negotiations. She's Jobs Minister, it's her job to know these issues
Actually, no, Ministers seldom know the nitty gritty of a negotiation. However, she stated that no complaint had ever been laid about work with no pay, and that is on the union. I think the issue is that this has been an airlines global practice, and no one raised it as an abnormal practice.
If she didn't know the nitty gritty of the negotiations, she had absolutely no right to legislate them back to work! No matter how this plays out Hadju proves to be incompetent
Hello?
www.parl.ca/DocumentView.... So did she miss this too? How does she know there has been no complaint, it resulted in a lockout, they haven't been able to bargain for a decade, so how is that on the union. Hadju fucked up, badly full stop.
No one ever complained?! She should have known what the outstanding issues were BEFORE she invoked S. 107, don't you think?
Yes, they log complaints and investigate them.
They log all complaints to the Labour Board so they can investigate. I truly believe no one saw the practice as abnormal for the industry. It has happened in many industries before. But it is so very obvious now.
Nope I don't think anyone raised it as abnormal. Obviously, it is not okay, but it is an accepted practice globally. Now, it is no longer acceptable in Canada.
The whole S 107 is more the monopoly issue and needs to be corrected. But we have heard that before.
