Hmm, will it no longer follow the DFO's mandate then? So, if that's the case, who will be responsible for protecting our waterways and making sure the laws governing our fisheries by both domestic and foreign commercial fishermen are followed?

I am unsure of that, but I believe they are considering it all defense, but they needed to have weapons capacity, so I also do not know how that was resolved.

That's another thing that bothers me. If they have weapons capabilities, does that mean they will be used against our own? A boatload of commercial fishermen will make a run for it but if they think they will be shot at, they may arm themselves.

I know, I'm creating scenarios that may or may never happen. It's just the way my brain works. 😂 I just hope those in power consider the ramifications of arming our waters protectors before actually doing it.

Coast guard ships are not armed. I guess this will change, along with training.
