Happy Labour Day. As a bit of union organizing history, both Boris Karloff (Frankenstein) and Bella Lugosi (Dracula) were founding members of the Screen Actors Guild. In fact one of the first SAG meetings was held in Karloff's garage! SAG started in 1933 to prevent the exploitation of actors.

As an aside, Boris Karloff also used to live in my home province of Alberta, Canada where he worked as a firefighter. The dude was pretty damned awesome. Amazing sense of humour. First person of East Indian heritage to be shortlisted for a Hugo Award.
