Yeah, this is all bullshit. There is no known cause of autism, and I've seen everything from food dyes to bad gut bacteria to genetics to natal stress levels blamed for it.

Agree. Our niece was diagnosed at 2 years old. The parents have been to hell and back searching for a cause, it doesnβt change things but they feel compelled to understand why this happened. Still no conclusive answers. The batshit crazy person has his own ideas and they are unproven.
Personally, I'm increasingly leaning toward autism not being a malfunction, per se, but just a different way of clocking cognition. Most humans are socially oriented, but autistic people tend to be less so, but more oriented toward hard logic and reasoning.
Yes good point. Our niece is a lovely and accomplished student, who had to learn the social skills and ability to be in group dynamics. Therapy and support helped make this successful. Now she does theatre!
I have a personal theory that theater is one of the best activities for a person on the spectrum to do, because it offers an alternative path for observing & understanding the possible emotional & cognitive states that may be leading the people around you to do the things they do.
