The second amendment is not the problem. It's the bullshit interpretation that many Republicans have of the amendment that is the biggest problem. Sure it could be amended to be more clear about what was pretty fucking obvious when it was written but they didn't have semi-automatic weapons of war.

A gun is a pretty useless tool. It does only one thing! A car can kill multiple people at once, however, they have a thousand times more uses than a gun. People are ok with training, licensing, insurance, renewal, as well as suspension & revocation. Cars weren't around in the 1780's, so we adapted.

Totally agree with everything you posted other than a gun being a "useless tool". If it wasn't for guns my family would have starved to death in the '80s. But weapons designed for war have no business in the public's hands.

...should have added professional/or "need to" hunters as an exception.

Guns are tools for killing.

Yes that is their primary function. But when you take in the whole of it you understand that they are also tools of survival. For instance I would never walk into grizzly country without some firearm to protect myself. Is that killing? Yes. Is it necessary? Also yes.

They are a tool for survival when killing is necessary. (Technically, it’s the bullets that do the killing.) They are not magic talismans that ward off danger. youtu.be/a7KgMV3DXw0?...
