Best time to visit is late September through early November. Best weather for walking, eating outside etc. Catch an Uber to visit the neighborhoods and ask locals where to go for great meals - donβt bother with the tourist restaurants.

I moved to NY 20+ years ago and miss Chicago so much! Everything is just better there--especially the FOOD!!! The only thing I'll give NY is the jaw-dropping nature and scenery here in the lower Hudson Valley.

You're so right. I drive up from Chicago through New York a few years ago during the fall and it floored me. Can't wait to go back. Upstate and Vermont were like a fairy tale.
