One of the LA fire guys retired to ID. Helo pilot. His name eludes me at the moment. πΉπ
We have SO many that move to Idaho with those California safety pensions. There are active firefighters that live there and commute. That's why so many pushed for the shitty 48/96 schedule.
That's a helluva commute. And no kinda life imho, but *shrugs* π
I don't know for a fact; however, they likely time trade to work, for instance, a full 96. Then trade for a 144 off. Something like that. That can get you some really tired people responding to calls. That would be a nightmare to manage as a company officer!
This is not the first time I've heard of this practice. It's a danger to their coworkers & the general population imho. I'm pretty sure I know who one such dumba$$ is. πΉβ‘οΈπ
We had a ton of forced overtime in our job which resulted in some of our folks working many hours at a stretch. As a company officer, I was sympathetic to their needs, mainly for rest! Guys that choose this? Other than obvious safety concerns, too bad, so sad. π
Even sadder are the ones who do it because they didnβt manage their money and need the OT. BTW I did time in Idaho (a couple years elementary/Jr High).
My former roommate was an Idaho State grad. We visited and skied around Pocatello many times.
I lived in Pocatello, 10/10 donβt recommend.
