Till the moment when they will have to face the problem anyway.
The problem is already punching Europe repeatedly in the face. It's here, and we can see Europe's measure. No need to speculate anymore eh?
Totally agree. But unless you live in Ukraine, you don't get the greatest punches. Yet.
I feel like ranting tonight. The cost to defeat Russia would have been around 1~2% of GDP, just the EU's GDP, in raw Euro terms. No other allies needed. If 1~2% for a few years was too high a cost for Europe to defeat it's only credible enemy, I don't know how they can even begin to posture.
"Never again", "at any cost", "until victory", ("As long as it doesn't impact me").
The average EU citizen seems to want UA to win, Russia to lose and be relegated to the role of "Europe's gas station" again, and for peace dividends to rain ever more. But the average EU citizen also expects all this not only for free, but with tax cuts at the same time as government subsidies.
And for any stray EU citizen who might see this. Yes, I did not even bother ranting about the US. The US is no longer on team Europe, time to move forward with that reality.
I can't understand why Western (I'm in Canada) countries don't send troops to support Ukrainian territorial defense. They wouldn't have to declare war to do so, would they? N.Korea hasn't declared war on Ukraine but has sent thousands of troops to reinforce R. efforts; why can't we do the same?
Most Americans, too 😣. The selfishness here boggles the mind. My assessment based on extensive experience: Americans are too scared to see outside their bubble. Europeans aren’t scared enough to take action.
