Not at all... grasses dies back naturally and then returns next year. Plus in dry weather long grass traps the morning dew... and with rain a scarcity it's needed. My patch uncut for 2 years... and I hear & see insects in it. Nature great at self management and less grass mowing too boot!!

On the contrary the cover it gives is exactly why you shouldn’t cut the grass.
