the themes he’s using, damn! so so clear! i would love to hear your other thoughts (esp since i know you said they change some of the props sometimes) now that i have a basic understanding of the tour

think the biggest other things that have happened recently are them being shown clocking in with punch cards at the start, the fact that the audience typically receives YEA/NAY voting signs when they come into the show and this last show they were handed out RIGHT before showtime ONLY to the floor+
gerard seems to be getting more and more off script, during the election/execution he was basically like "the dictator says i gotta do it, do i care? not really!" & he reads a different book/magazine at every show, like toronto was the anne hathaway vogue and this week was a cat magazine 🫣
the striped undershirt he had on underneath his parade outfit also seems pretty indicative of some kind of prisoner situation and it's also new! a black and white striped shirt after taylor's black and white striped dress? a cat's brain? whewww... like i know, everything's not about her. but...
HOW INTERESTING! there’s so much to say about that esp with the current convo about voting and how much it truly does for us the people the striped shirt woulddd make total sense with all the themes you outlined in your slideshow! a performer forced to play along with the madness of hollywood
exactlyyy. i also recently found out that during the recording of their first album, the owner of their label literally punched gerard in the face to get him to record when he had just had emergency dental surgery and was swollen and in pain and just told this story to a journalist a few years back
and called it a "jockish" thing to do... brother you PUNCHED A MAN POST-SURGERY because he wasn't doing exactly what you wanted him to do. that's why the slap in the show is so wild. i had previously thought it might allude to judy garland being slapped by victor fleming on the set of oz at 17yo
wow, and putting that before a song singing about cancer with THAT double meaning it truly explains why so many, like him, have to step away from the spotlight. the pressure that these artists are put under just to produce is insane. they’re truly treated like cattle.
also the whole “‘Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you” fits taylor’s themes so so so well esp with the mashups she did during the SS set
yeah cancer as a whole is a song that's like... i mean it's always been super meaningful, but i don't think it was ever REALLY about cancer. there are a lot of great youtube videos about the black parade album and its story/concept/characters but it definitely seems like a metaphor for fame to me
Do you have any details on the OG magazine from Seattle? I know I’ve heard there’s a through line in DD era but I’m not doing a good job trying to look it up myself 😅
yeah! not a ton lol but the first two shows he read a couple of the murder monthly props from the DD videos! the first one had a skull (apparently), the second one had a shark. after the first 3 shows the reading material stopped being like... in universe, idk what to make of that lol
AH tysm this is exactly what I was looking for 😭 im trying to keep track of the props & unique details at the dates I go to hehehe
thank you for looking and keeping track!! i actually just realized the mag mikey is reading there IS the shark one gerard was reading n2! hoping to find a full view of the n1 mag. so weird, but... confirmation that long live the black parade is certainly in the DD universe. have fun at your shows!!
Desperately want them to sell these 😭 I’ve never seen them that clearly that’s hilarious!!!
