If there is one thing the government does well it's accumulating and presenting data. In my work in academia and in the private sector, in many cases, federal agencies are the only source of data.

Forgive him for thinking that a statistician is no different than accountant. Will someone please explain that statistics is applied mathematics such that 1+1 will always equal 2. Accountants are skilled engineers in numbers manipulation so as to obtain a story of profit or loss.
